CURRENT OPEN POSITIONS:

Block Machine Operator – Concord, NC

Under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the Block Machine Operator oversees the automatic operation of approximately six machines that package the product in an assembly line fashion. This position is located at our Concord, NC plant. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.

Essential Functions

  • Must start and stop machinery following established routines and meeting all safety and performance standards. These include, but are not limited to, the Spade system, LSC-40 pallet transport(plant 1 only), pallet conveyors, block turnover, cuber, stretch wrapper(plant 2 only), and the 90 degree transfer
  • Must safely remove hang-ups and bad product from all machinery in the work area.
  • Perform routine maintenance including but not limited to; greasing, cleaning and general plant clean-up as well as block testing.
  • Assist with cleaning the mixer and equipment repairs.

Competencies

  • Know how to operate a forklift.
  • Perform basic math functions and know common units of measurement.
  • Recognize safety hazards and equipment malfunctions with the ability to respond accordingly.
  • Read and comprehend manuals and paperwork in the English language.
  • Use hand tools such as a hammer, screwdriver and wrench as well as grinders and drills.
  • Good motor coordination, finger dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment

  • Wet and/or dirty conditions.
  • Outdoor weather conditions including at times extreme cold and heat.
  • Loud noises and vibrations.
  • Fumes and airborne particles.

This is a full-time position during the night shift. Overtime may be necessary to meet a production or work deadline.

Forklift Operator – Concord, NC

Under the direct supervision of the Yard Foreman, the Forklift Operator takes products from the plant and puts them into inventory; loads trucks accurately and efficiently; helps customers in selecting the inventory they need and load their vehicles; follows established policies and procedures. This position is located at our Concord, NC plant. This is a non-exempt, hourly or exempt position.

Essential Functions

  • Assist customers in selecting the inventory they need.
  • Load inventory items on company and customer vehicles for shipment out of the yard. Use forklift or hand-loading as needed or directed.
  • Be sure load is accurate by double checking loading copy.
  • Perform the last quality control inspection on inventory leaving the yard.
  • Maintain high level of customer service.
  • Maintain work area in a neat and hazard-free condition.
  • Perform other functions and duties as needed or directed, such as inventory quantities; removing and inspecting returned inventory; preparing fireplace orders; restocking resale items; consulting with customers on the proper loading of their vehicles; reporting shortages and quality problems immediately, monitoring traffic flow through the yard and reporting problems immediately; reporting forklift malfunctions; performing simple forklift maintenance tasks such as checking fluids and fuel levels; operating other mobile vehicles; receiving shipments; putting receiving tickets in office; and assist with training of employees.

Competencies

  • Operate a forklift efficiently and safely along with other mobile vehicles.
  • Understand and follow directions in English as required by safety and job performance standards.
  • Be able to recognize when products do not meet quality standards and machinery does not meet operational standards.
  • Develop very good knowledge of inventory sizes, types, colors and pallet package counts.
  • Be able to accurately use a tape measure to check size of products.
  • Perform frequent math operations to calculate quantity of units per tier and per pallet and other calculations as needed.

  • Work in outdoor weather conditions most of the time, even in bad weather.

This is a full-time position during the night shift. Overtime may be necessary to meet a production or work deadline.

  • At least one year of previous forklift experience moving construction materials.
